To forgive or not forgive? Isn’t that a question that we all subconsciously ask ourselves at times? I have contemplated this thought a lot lately and I’ve decided that forgiving is necessary in order to be at peace and harmony with oneself.
I believe that little trivial things in life are usually easy to forgive. But sometimes when friends fail us and we think they should or should not have done something, or they have hurt us it is easy to want to punish or reject them. We forget that they are human and everyone makes mistakes. How many times as a kid did you mess up but your parents still forgave you and loved you no matter what?
Forgiveness is a one way street and I believe sometimes we have to forgive even if we feel that we have been wronged. At least from my experience when I have fought against forgiving someone I have felt a lot of discord inside of me. But on the other hand when I forgive someone there is a freedom and peace that subsides.
No matter how many times I forgive it still sometimes can be challenging. I have come to an understanding that forgiving is always the right decision and by doing this I can be at harmony and peace with myself.
